Some patients are nervous or fearful about dental treatment, particularly surgery. The use of modern techniques of anxiety control can make your dental appointment much more pleasant and comfortable. A range of different methods are available depending on your needs. These include oral medication, nitrous oxide gas, or intravenous drugs. Careful monitoring of the level of sedation is done throughout the appointment for your safety. You remain conscious but relaxed, free of anxiety and apprehension.
Conscious sedation is different from general anesthesia where the patient is fully asleep and carries less risk. However for those patients who need general anesthesia, a trained anesthesiologist is available.
