Dr. Spector has practiced periodontics in San Diego since 1979. He received the Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University and graduated from dental school at Indiana University where he received the Student Award from the American Academy of Periodontology.
He then completed his specialty training in Periodontics at the Loyola University School of Dentistry in Chicago. After teaching at Loyola’s dental school and practicing in suburban Chicago for three years he moved to California to establish a new practice in the Scripps Ranch area.
Dr. Spector is a member of the San Diego County Dental Society and the California Society of Periodontists, having served on the Board of Directors of both organizations. He also holds memberships in the California Dental Association, American Dental Association, the American Academy of Periodontology, the Academy of Osseointegration, and the International Team for Implantology.
Currently he serves as an examiner with the Dental Board of California for conscious sedation permits. He also is a member of the peer review committee of the local dental society and an advisor to the Summit Dental Study Group.
In addition to treating all types of periodontal (gum) disease, Dr Spector has particular interest in dental implants and cosmetic periodontal surgery. He continues to enhance his knowledge and skills by attending continuing education activities around the country on a regular basis. |

Penny Franks
Penny is a member of our dental hygiene staff and has been with the practice since it was established. She is highly skilled in the treatment of patients with periodontal problems and practiced with several leading general dentists and periodontists in Chicago and San Diego before joining our group.
Penny completed her education at the Loyola University School of Dentistry in Chicago where she taught before returning to San Diego where she attended high school and junior college. She is active in her alumni association, an avid Charger football fan, and movie buff. |

Yang Liu
Yang is another member of our dental hygiene staff and has been with the practice since 2005. She was born and raised in China and moved to the United States in 1995.
Yang received her Bachelor of Science degree with honor from the University of Arkansas in 2000. She provides thorough yet gentle care for our periodontal patients and emphasizes involving them in understanding the importance of preventive care in maintaining the best oral health. Yang is also an avid traveler and aspiring golfer. |

Terri Sapp
Terri has worked in both general dentistry and Periodontics as a registered dental assistant and office manager for over 25 years. Her education includes degrees from UCLA and Diablo Valley College with an internship at the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco.
In addition to her wide experience in the dental field she is able to handle scheduling, insurance, and financial arrangements for you with compassion and understanding. Terri is active in several community organizations and has a passion for art and design. |

Rebecca Thornhill
Rebecca is our dental implant coordinator and a registered dental assistant. She received her education at Palomar College where she was a Dean’s List honoree and a member of Phi Theta Kappa academic society. She has specialized in periodontal and oral surgery with an emphasis on dental implant procedures.
Rebecca takes particular pride in making each patient’s visit a positive, satisfying experience. She volunteers as a troop leader with her daughter’s Brownie Girl Scout group on a frequent basis. |
